Greeklish
Greeklish search for e-shops
Many shoppers type in Latin letters, especially on phones. Findora understands “antiliako”, “sampouan” and phonetic brand names as if they had been typed correctly in Greek, without you adding synonyms by hand.
The problem
Why Greeklish breaks search
Greeklish has no single rule. “η” is typed “i”, “h” or “e”, “ω” as “o” or “w”, “θ” as “th” or “8”, “χ” as “x”, “h” or “ch”. The same word can be written dozens of ways, and plain search only matches the one in the product title.
With brands the problem doubles. Shoppers type a brand phonetically in Greek while the title is in Latin letters, or the other way round. Without phonetic matching the store looks as if it doesn’t carry the brand.
Findora converts every query and every product into a common form without accents and also compares their “phonetic” form. Greek, Greeklish and Latin match, with or without accents and with small typos. It works automatically across the whole catalogue, without synonym lists.
Findora
What it covers
- Greeklish in all the usual spellings (i/h/e, o/w, th/8, x/h/ch, u/y/i, etc.).
- Accents and final sigma: an unaccented query matches the accented title.
- Phonetic brand spellings in Greek and Latin letters.
- Small typos and words in a different case or number.
- Mixed Greek and English in the same query.
- Your own synonyms from the portal, when you want something specific to your store.
